Wolverley & Cookley Historical Society
The Wolverley and Cookley Historical Society was formed in 1988 and has over 80 members, of which around 50 regularly attend meetings and talks.
The objectives of the Society are to research, and record, the history of Wolverley and Cookley, and to collect, conserve and publish historical records and research material.
To meet these objectives we maintain an archive of books, documents and other material and publish a journal containing articles submitted by members. We also arrange talks by outside speakers and local walks which often include something of historical interest.
The purpose of this website is to provide information about the activities of the Society for members and a wider public.

Wolverley Camp
Constructed in 1942, Wolverley Camp has had a varied history. Its occupation began in 1943 when the US Army Medical Corps opened its award winning 52nd general hospital. After the hostilities in Europe had ceased the US Medical Corps returned to the states and units of the British Army moved in along with German POWs. The Royal Army Pay Corps has also occupied Wolverley Camp and at one point there were plans to turn Wolverley Camp into a prison. Wolverley Camp is now a campsite which is used as a leisure facility during the summer for camping and caravanning, it is also used as an area to fly model aircraft in the summer months.
